MEETING ANNOUNCEMENT: Global Action After-School Group at Thornton Creek School

Thursday, November 1st, 3:15 - 4:15 in the Library

An after-school group focused on learning and taking action about global issues is being launched at Thornton Creek! Our primary activity, at least initially, will be to plan and conduct a fund-raising effort over the course of the school year associated with the well-known Read-to-Feed Program associated with Heifer International (see http://www.readtofeed.org/ to learn more). By getting sponsors for books they read, our children will raise money to buy livestock for struggling families in other parts of the world who need an ongoing source of income.

We invite all interested children and parents to join the group (and welcome any teacher input). At our first meeting we will discuss the program and how we might implement it school-wide, with an emphasis on having the kids design the details.
